The Three Cs
by Viola Lund, MK
One thing I think we can all relate to is 1) change, whether we are on the mission field or not. From my point of view as a missionary kid, I think change is just part of the normal because I’ve experienced it so many times. At the MK schoolhouse we joke if there is no change or unexpected in the day it’s not a normal day because it’s so normal in Latin America for things to change. Having change in my life has really shaped me. I have learned several important keys that help me with change. Being able to adapt, being flexible, and finding something appreciable in the change even if it’s unpleasant. I have also experienced and learned God never changes, which leads to my next “C”.
In my life, despite all the change, God had/is/and will always be there. In every part of my life, I always find comfort in knowing I can go to God anytime. As our graduation comes nearer I think about the many goodbyes. I also think about how since I’m staying in Costa Rica, I will see many people coming and going. Sometimes I like to just think about all the change and the 2) constant. Although there is lot more change than constant, constant trumps it because God is constant.
The 3) Cincel family has been such a blessing in my life. Being here after six months, it feels like I’ve always known the people. Cincel has also taught me a lot about change. Our teacher, Ms. Monica, told us from the start that in Latin America, things change. Being told and helped through that has helped me adapt to it. Cincel has also taught me a lot about God, who is constant. At the MK schoolhouse we have morning devotions and I always enjoy the conversations that follow. We also each pray for someone or something, and it’s amazing to see God working, whether it takes a long or short time. I know God is there, listening, and working.

I loved the article by Viola Lund, missionary kid in Costa Rica, LAC. It is a good reminder of God’s sovereignty and providence. He who sent us will be with always. Thanks Viola.
